Before we got our Unimog we explored many back roads in the area with out Cammi-Rabbit. It did pretty well, but ground clearance was a problem. While on a road about 10 or 15 miles from home we felt and heard a thud as the oil pan connected with a large rock. The oil light immediately came on.I wasn't too concerned as we had Amsoil 0W-30 oil in the thing to protect it. We slowly drove on home, then removed the oil pan. The oil pump was destroyed and the pan beyond easy salvage. Fortunately I have plenty of spare parts in the barn and had it ready to go again in a couple of hours. A fresh fill of Amsoil and a new Amsoil filter and off we went again... But not on THAT road!By the way... I bought this car in Texas. It had over 120,000 miles on it when I converted everything in it to Amsoil. It didn't run when I bought it, but a little tinkering and it did just fine. Towed it home to northern New Hampshire behind our Grumman motorhome. |
