Barre, Vermont is about an hour and a half west of Lancaster. Take route 2 west to route 14 south. Just before you reach the city of Barre you'll find an interesting cemetary loaded with gravestones made by the very talented artisans of the area. After some of the best granite in the world was discovered at Barre artisans came, mostly from Italy to work the beautiful stone. Many of them now "reside" in this cemetary. It seems there was a great deal of competition in the design and crafting of their monuments. The result is a display of ingenuity and skill you'll be hard pressd to find elsewhere. There are some examples of some of my favorites below.
