Winter Hiking Safety
Actually "winter" hiking can happen any time of the year at the higher elevations around here. If you're going to go into the woods in the higher mountains, go prepared for anything.
There's a lot to do up here in the winter if you don't
mind a little encounter with Jack Frost. There are a lot of
great snowmobiling trails around here, as well as hiking
and cross country skiing, downhill skiing, and snowshoeing.
Some of the best (and most dangerous) ice climbing in the
world. If you're going to hike or do other activities at
high elevations on our mountains, come prepared and trained.
There's a long list in the visitor center at the top of Mount
Washington of the cadavers that local rescuers have had to
haul down. Please don't become one of them!
